Yacht Teak Care, Recaulking & Professional Installation

From preventative maintenance to high-precision new installations.

Your teak deck is one of your yacht’s most valuable assets. At Bimonti Yachts, we provide comprehensive solutions to preserve the beauty and integrity of your woodwork from preventative maintenance to high-precision new installations.

Many owners overlook small signs of wear until it’s too late. However, the financial reality is simple: maintenance is significantly more affordable than replacement.

A well-maintained deck can last decades, while neglect leads to water intrusion that can damage the boat’s underlying structure. Our services focus on:

  • Preventative Sanding: Technical leveling to remove ridges without excessive wood loss.

  • Periodic Deep Cleaning: Two-stage cleaning process that restores wood without damaging natural fibers.

  • Sealing & Protection: High-performance sealants to maintain that “honey-gold” look and repel water.

Caulking isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s the seal that prevents water from rotting the deck’s substrate. If you notice raised lines, cracks, or peeling, it is time to act immediately.

As specialists, we handle the entire technical process:

  1. Precision Removal: Extracting old caulk without damaging the edges of the teak planks.

  2. Groove Preparation: Chemical cleaning and priming to ensure a permanent bond.

  3. Marine-Grade Application: We use top-tier polymers (such as SIS 440) specifically engineered for Florida’s extreme heat.

  4. Final Sanding & Leveling: Achieving a smooth, flush finish that is soft to the touch and visually flawless.

When a deck reaches the end of its lifecycle, Bimonti Yachts provides the technical expertise for total replacement or brand-new installations.

  • Premium Grade-A Teak: We source high-density wood with uniform vertical grains.

  • Custom Design Layouts: Tailored patterns that follow the modern or classic lines of your vessel.

  • Vacuum Bagging Technology: Advanced installation methods ensuring a perfect, bubble-free bond to the hull.

How often should I recaulk my teak deck?

High-quality caulking typically lasts 8 to 12 years. However, in the harsh South Florida climate, we recommend an annual inspection. If lines are “proud” (raised) or separating, service is required to prevent structural water damage.

Yes! Never use a pressure washer on teak. It blasts away the soft fibers of the wood, creating ridges that accelerate rot. We use technical hand-scrubbing across the grain to preserve the wood’s surface.

This is an aesthetic choice. Sealed teak provides a barrier against oil and food stains, maintaining a “new boat” look. Natural (gray) teak is classic but requires more frequent deep cleaning to prevent mold buildup.

We do both. We can replace individual damaged planks (re-plugging) or perform localized recaulking to extend the life of your current deck.
